What is Tau Beta Pi?
Tau Beta Pi was founded in 1885 to mark in a fitting manner those who have conferred honor upon their alma mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as undergraduates in the field of engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in the engineering colleges.
Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to recognize students of distinguished scholarship and exemplary character. There are collegiate chapters at 235 U.S. colleges and universities, active alumnus chapters in 16 districts across the country, and a total initiated membership of 505,018.
Pennsylvania Zeta Chapter
Founded in 1930, Pennsylvania Zeta is the Tau Beta Pi chapter at Drexel University. Juniors and Seniors from approved curricula of the College of Engineering and the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems who meet the requirements of academic excellence and exemplary character are eligible to be elected into the Pennsylvania Zeta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
Current approved engineering curricula from the College of Engineering and the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems are:

* Chemical & Biological Engineering
* Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering
* Electrical, Computer & Software Engineering
* Materials Engineering
